At WinCare Pharmacy and Compounding Centre, some of the services we provide include:-

  • Medscheck - Medication Reviews

  • Wincare Pharmacists are committed to the health and well being of its patients. Medication review is a one-on-one 20-30 minute appointment with our pharmacist to review medications and help you better understand your medication therapy to ensure that medications are taken as prescribed.Patients may also be eligible for follow-up reviews during the year.

    People who benefit most are those Ontarians who are taking three or more medications for a chronic condition, people living with diabetes as well as those who are home-bound and not able to attend their community pharmacy. We thoroughly review with patients their understanding of medications, determine if medication is working well, any issues with side effects, in depth consultation of life styles, diet etc. If necessary we consult with your doctor to resolve health related issues. This often results in better management of medications.

    Medication Review for Diabetes

    Medication Review for Diabetes is for anyone who is diagnosed with type 1 or type 2 diabetes.Also a patient who is newly diagnosed with diabetes and taking less than three medications now benefits from the one-on-one consultation with the pharmacist towards overall disease management.

    Medication Review at Home

    The Medication review at Home is intended for those patients taking a minimum of three chronic prescription medications who are not able to attend their community pharmacy in person because of their physical and/or mental health condition and/or the distance to a community pharmacy.

    Medication Review at Home involves our pharmacist’s visit in the patient’s private home for the one-on-one consultation. In addition, the pharmacist conducts an assessment summary that includes a medicine cabinet clean-up during the visit and the ability to remove unused medication for proper disposal at the pharmacy.

    The objectives of this Medication Review at Home include:

    • Improving and optimizing drug therapy for those who are frail, elderly and living in isolated conditions
    • Achieving safe, effective and appropriate use of all types of medications and medication devices
    • Promoting healthier patient outcomes and quality of life

    Ensuring proper disposal of unused and/or expired medication

  • Diabetes Education

  • Diabetes is a chronic, often debilitating and sometimes fatal disease, in which the body either cannot produce insulin or cannot properly use the insulin it produces. Insulin is a hormone that controls the amount of glucose (sugar) in the blood. Diabetes leads to high blood sugar levels, which can damage organs, blood vessels and nerves. The body needs insulin to use sugar as an energy source.

    Diabetes is one of the fastest growing ailments in Canada. The number of people with diabetes has doubled over the last decade. This has resulted in costing economy more than 13 billion dollars per year.

    There are many signs and symptoms that can indicate diabetes.

    Signs and symptoms can include the following:

    • Unusual thirst
    • Frequent urination
    • Weight change (gain or loss)
    • Extreme fatigue or lack of energy
    • Blurred vision
    • Frequent or recurring infections
    • Cuts and bruises that are slow to heal
    • Tingling or numbness in the hands or feet
    • Trouble getting or maintaining an erection

    Our pharmacist realize importance of prevention and education to prevent and manage diabetes. Our Certified diabetic educator can be of immense resource to deal with various issues and problems arising due to diabetes. We are also able to refer patients to appropriate Health care providers as the need be.

  • Compliance Packaging

  • Many people who are taking more than 2-3 medications on regular basis can have difficulty to take them at appropriate times. Our pharmacist reviews timing of each medication and dispense them in blister packs in weekly, biweekly or monthly packages. There is no charge for this service for the people who qualify.

  • Flu shot

  • Influenza outbreak in the winter commonly affects people of all ages. Our Pharmacists are certified for injecting influenza vaccines provide by Government of Ontario. There is no charge for this service. Flu shots are normally given from end of October till end of February.This service is provided to people 5 years or older and no prior appointment is required.

  • Compounding for patient specific medication

  • Working closely with the patient and the prescriber, compounding gives the pharmacist the means to customize medication to meet the individual needs of each patient.

  • Free local delivery

  • We Provide free prescription delivery in Burlington, Ontario. We also have once a week Delivery service to Brantford, Hamilton and Oakville.

  • Health & Wellness

  • This is the backbone of our pharmacy practice. Our Pharmacists are well versed to discuss issues related to staying healthy. We also provide expert clinical advice for obesity, heart health, smoking cessation, natural health products, blood pressure monitoring, diabetes products & specialised diabetes services etc.
